ACS Benefit Services, Inc. (ACS) is a Third Party Administrator of self-funded health care plans serving organizations located throughout the United States.

As plan sponsors, employers should consider two important questions concerning their group health plans. First, are the benefits offered providing the best plan possible to recruit and keep their workforce? Second, is there a more efficient method to pay for these expenses and retain more control over the actual plan design?

An estimated 75% of all companies have implemented self-funded plans with some sort of stop-loss. They expect to purchase only those coverages which make sense to them. The self-funding concept permits the plan sponsor to self insure the reasonable and cost effective expenses, while at the same time limiting the expense obligation through the purchase of stop-loss insurance. The self-funding concept improves the plan sponsor's cash flow, limits expenses, allows greater flexibility in plan design, and simplifies administrative functions.

Preferred Provider Organizations permit plan sponsors to take advantage of pre-negotiated discounts with selected health care providers in particular geographical areas. When you combine the control and cash flow advantages of self-funding with discounted service fees of selected health care providers, you truly have the most efficient and flexible method of benefit management.
