Community Involvement

One important value at ACS is making a difference in the local community of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and surrounding areas. This is something we feel very passionate about, as is evidenced by our raising close to $300,000 over the past five years for three primary fundraisers:

• United Way (in 2011, the ACS contribution averaged $300 an employee!)
• Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
• Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (employees and family members shown below in October 2010 – walk at Wake Forest University)

In addition, employees at ACS participate in projects that help the less fortunate at home and abroad. For example, for the 2011 Holiday Season a group of employees adopted a seven-member family from the Department of Social Services and delivered a truckload of gifts and the makings of a wonderful Christmas dinner for them. Last year, a group of employees went to a local nursing home and adopted 20 residents for Christmas.

For three years in a row an ACS team along with the President and the COO made stockings for our American troops and filled them with goodies such as socks, candy, soap, homemade Christmas cards, and stationary. They shipped the stockings to an organization called "Give to the Troops" who mailed them overseas.
