Community Involvement
One important value at ACS is making a difference in the local community of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and surrounding areas. This is something we feel very passionate about, as is evidenced by our raising close to $300,000 over the past five years for several fundraisers:
- United Way
- Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
- Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
- Cancer Services (in Winston-Salem)
In addition, employees at ACS participate in projects that help the less fortunate at home and abroad. In the spring of 2012, a group of employees collected items for the local Ronald McDonald House (across from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center) to make the lives of families with sick children a little easier during their hospital stay. ACS contributed food, paper products, and cleaning supplies to last the House for several months. The idea grew out of a team-building project.
For three years in a row an ACS team along with the President and the COO made stockings for our American troops and filled them with goodies such as socks, candy, soap, homemade Christmas cards, and stationary. They shipped the stockings to an organization called "Give to the Troops" who mailed them overseas.
